No workshop in 2011
As we start a New Year, I’ve had to make some tough choices about how I allocate my time during 2011.
It always seems to be the case that I’ve got multiple projects on the go, and this year is no different.
2010 was a phenomenal year for To Fee or Not to Fee. I hosted two multiple-day workshops including my first one out west, spoke at the CIFPs annual conference and the FPSC Vision 2020 symposium, and produced the 60 page 2010 Advisor Survey Report - fee vs. commission model.
My financial planning firm, Ryan Lamontagne Inc. (aka my day job), also had a great year, and this year we have similarly ambitious goals. At the same time, I aim to spend more time with my family, take a European vacation, attend a major U.S. financial industry conference, and hopefully finish the CIM.
To Fee or Not to Fee workshops have had fantastic response since its launch and I’m really grateful to all of those students who provided there feedback.
It’s been a tough decision to take a break from hosting public workshops, particularly with so many financial advisors needing information and guidance on the fee-model, but it is the right thing for me to do so I can maintain a healthy life/work balance in 2011.
I am still available for corporate training and speaking engagements. The website will also continue to be here and I will continue to post updates on the Blog/News page. Rest assured there is a very good chance that I will reactivate the workshop in one form or another in 2012.
Thank you for all of your support to date and I look forward to speaking with you again in the future.
Marc Lamontagne, CFP, R.F.P., FMA
